"Thanks for your feedback CJ. Insurance is one of the most regulated industries in the country. Meaning State Farm has to file for a rate increase and then get it approved. Most of the time this is by showing the cost of doing business, what we are paying out and what we are taking in, then an outside state official approves the increase or not. A ton of companies have packed up and left Alabama due to they couldn’t afford to do business here. Increased costs in repairs, replacement vehicle costs, legal costs from lawyers driving up claims and so many other factors have had a major impact on rates since covid. Also, note that most companies are using data driven rating models, so an individual’s driving record, vehicle safety features, personal credit, longevity with a carrier, and hundreds of other factors drive individual rates. At my office, we strive to give the best service we can, and unfortunately the rates are decided at a much higher level. "
